Twas the weekend before Christmas, and between working and trying to find the most festive shit to do or see in Toronto, I was exhausted. The city has at 5 Christmas markets currently running, from the slightly hipster Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District to the big Holiday Fair outside City Hall in Nathan Phillips Square. There’s a Holiday Market in posh Yorkville Village and a Winter Village in Bayview, and let’s not forget the various craft and design-led orange-and-clove-scented events dotted around the city the whole month of December. Toronto is a fucking winter wonderland.
On Sunday I made my way to the The Great Hall on Queen Street West, which I’ll admit I didn’t even realise existed until…Sunday. I’ve been to a few vegan festivals in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but I really wanted to try out Toronto’s offerings. Would the dairy-free cheeses be better? Creamier? Would I finally find that elusive Brie? I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves…
